"I want you to know that in this kind of warfare, the battering ram has always been the Rosary."
-Our Lady to St. Dominic
In case you're confused with all the different numbers in front of the Rosaries and have no clue what they're supposed to mean (like how I felt, when I first started making twine Rosaries!), here is a brief explanation of what those numbers mean.
Size #24:
These Rosaries have a twine diameter of 1.85 mm, making them very small and easily compactible. People typically like this size, as they can shove it in their pocket without it causing a noticeably huge lump from the outside, or they can wrap it around their wrist for quick access. The length of the finished #21 Rosaries vary, since each one is individually hand-knotted, but the average finished length is 15".
Size #36:
This size of Rosary is 2.16 mm in diameter, so it is a bit bigger than the size #21, making it a bit bulkier to carry around. However, the twine design still makes it very compatible, and it is perfect for keeping in your car or carrying in your purse. The average finished length of the #36 Rosaries is 18".
Yes! I also sell #18 and #9 twine upon request. I do not typically keep these sizes in stock because the demand for them is so low. However, if you need one of these twine sizes, just contact me and I will get them for you! The wait time for these twines will be 1-2 weeks since I will have to stock them first.
I love making Rosaries and will take as many custom orders as I can! I can do simple knot, double-strand and ladder knot Rosaries. Just let me know what twine color(s) you want and we can go from there! :)
You may have heard the terms "top grain" "genuine" and "full grain" leather before, and have wondered what the difference between them are. The difference is simply what layer of hide is used!
FULL GRAIN LEATHER is the entire hide of the animal, after having the hair removed. This leather has the tightest interlinking of fibers, making it the most durable and waterproof. Because it includes the natural grain, you can sometimes see natural imperfections or scars that the animal may have had, such as after running into a barbed wire fence. This is called the "signature of leathers" and is the most expensive type of leather on the market due to its desirability.
TOP GRAIN LEATHER has the topmost layer of the hide sanded down to remove any natural imperfections and markings, making it thinner and less durable than the full grain leather. It is the next highest quality available after full grain leather.
When a hide is cut, it is cut into 2 layers: the top cut (which includes FULL GRAIN and TOP GRAIN leather) and the bottom cut (which becomes suede and genuine leather). Bottom cut leather is the lowest quality of leather available, and has looser fibers and durability than top cut leathers.
